Friday, January 12 - Teacher In-Service Day. No School for students.
Grade 2 students have been learning about landforms and water forms during their current science unit. Scholars displayed remarkable creativity by skillfully molding air-dry clay to craft their own unique land and water forms. Nice work!
We recognized the following students this morning for their character and scholarship. These students earned Eagle Wings and were invited to pick out of the prize box.
Students at RCS have been creating ornaments for the 9 little trees at the Ripley Public Library. Students walked to the library to deliver these works of art today. Feel free to stop by the library anytime in December to check them out. Great job scholars!
RCS Staff will be kicking off the Christmas in Ripley festivities at 5:15pm this Friday, December 8th by caroling on a hay-less hay-wagon. The wagon will be traveling around the village of Ripley and families are encouraged to come outside if they hear singing. Pictured is map of the route.
On 12/5/23 primary students showed off their problem solving skills during a Lego League showcase. This year's event focused on creating a performance. A big thank you goes out to the parents that showed up for the event. The kids were excited to share their learning!

We had a great Crew Celebration this morning! We discussed the December Character Trait of Responsibility, and learned that we are responsible for our school, families, and community. I also recognized students for their nightly reading, monthly attendance, and school spirit!

On 11/21, Mr. Morton paid a visit to RCS, accompanied by his friend Roger, offering students an introduction to this noble animal exclusive to North America. Take a moment to ask your children if they recall any turkey trivia shared during this special visit!

This month, our focus has centered around the theme of teamwork. Today, we engaged in a hands-on activity by constructing marshmallow towers. As a team, we took the opportunity to reflect on our efforts, areas in which we excelled and identified areas for improvement. Great job!
Grade 4 students engaged in a hands-on exploration of the concept of energy through practical experiments with electricity. Collaborating in groups, the students actively participated in constructing basic circuits with the ultimate aim of illuminating a light bulb. Great job!
I would like to express my gratitude to all the individuals whose efforts went into this Thursday's Family Style Thanksgiving meal. At RCS, all students are privileged to partake in a Thanksgiving feast. Three cheers for turkey!

Second grade students partnered up with some 1st grade friends to share some of the expert knowledge they have been reading about in their nonfiction unit for Reader's Workshop. What a wonderful opportunity for the students to become the teachers!
This morning, the entire building came together in the large gymnasium for November's Crew Celebration, centered around the theme of Teamwork. A heartfelt shout-out goes to the Fredonia State Men’s Basketball team, whose presence at RCS added an extra layer of excitement for our students.
The players shared an engaging teamwork drill to each class, fostering a sense of collaboration and unity. Following the activity, they made their way to classrooms, where they shared the joy of reading with our eager students. It was heartening to see the students take full advantage of this unique opportunity, asking insightful questions and forging connections with their basketball player.
Our partnership with the Fredonia State Men’s Basketball team has undoubtedly enriched the lives of our students, and we're eagerly looking forward to their next visit. A special appreciation goes to Coach Smiley for reaching out and playing a crucial role in facilitating this meaningful connection. The impact of this collaboration was felt by both our students and the players, making it a truly rewarding experience for all involved. A heartfelt thank you to Coach Smiley and the entire team!

5th grade grew their communication and teamwork skills as we worked together to complete a series of team building challenges at Mission Meadows. We learned that stepping out of your comfort zone may scare you, but is so rewarding in the end. You can't grow if you never stretch!
